Last Night InterVarsity and Greek IV had their first event of the year. The BBQ at Scrips Cottage. We gave out 3oo hundred hot dogs and hamburgers and it wasn’t enough. It was a great time to hang out and meet new people and let them get a feel for or group.

I came on and spoke after the BBQ and talked about the “college experience” and how we all desire it and chase it. I told them some funny stories from my early days in college and then challenged them to take seriously the words of Jesus when he says, “The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they might have life and have it to the full.” What does it mean that Jesus offers us the fullest life? What if his words are actually true and there is another way to live? I did my best to compel them with my stories and scripture to turn from the dissapointments of the “college experience” and fill there life with the fullness of God.

Pat sharing his story
Pat, a fraternity student on campus, shared his story of transformation over the last year. He talked about the way he was chasing the “college experience” and how he wanted to feel alive and whole, but nothing would fill that longing in his life. He used two red cups as an illustration; one that had the bottom cut off and the other had the bottom on. He compared his life before Christ to the cup with the bottom off as he said, “I just kept pouring and pouring things into my life and they would just run through the bottom and spill on the floor.” He talked of his life with Christ and how God has attached a foundation in his life and now he can overflow with the love and joy of Jesus onto other people. He was so compelling.

Beau preaching outside!
Seven different students responded to commit their life to Christ and let him be the leader and provider of abundant life in college. One student who gave their life to Christ was from a fraternity that we have had no contact with. God is on the move!
