International Student Ministry

As we started the school year at SDSU, we had a thorough, organized plan for how we’d reach the campus. But, as we began the first few days, we realized that God had a different plan.

We had no specific plan for a bible study for international students– and nearly 20 of them showed up during the first few weeks of school, thirsty to learn about Jesus! Spur of the moment, we created an International Student Bible Study on Wednesday nights.

It is exciting leading international students through scripture because many of them have never read or heard of Jesus. Last night was one such night. A Chinese student, we’ll call her Elizabeth, wrote on her Facebook status a few days prior that she was “on her way to becoming a Christian.” I asked her about it last night at Bible study and she said that she has really enjoyed learning about Jesus; she also likes how much he loves other people and how he heals them

We studied John 13 where Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. Jesus says that you can have no part with him unless he washes you– forgives you of your sins. I asked Elizabeth if she wanted Jesus to forgive her of her sins and if she wanted to become a Christian that night. She said she was “not ready”, but maybe she would “become a Christian in a couple of weeks.” God is drawing her to himself! Pray that we continue to be led by the Holy Spirit! Pray that this woman would ask Jesus into her life!
