A Word from Kristina on Greek Ministry

Greek Ministry in San Diego needs your prayers!

As you know, I (Kristina) am working part-time as the Greek Ministry Coordinator, overseeing Greek ministry in San Diego County. That means that I train and encourage staff and students to reach sorority and fraternity students on four different campuses in San Diego: University of San Diego, UCSD, San Diego State, and Cal State San Marcos. In the past couple of years, we have seen many students in the Greek System make decisions to follow Jesus, and we have seen a witnessing community grow on each campus. PRAISE GOD! However, we are in a season where we are facing many challenges and need your concentrated prayer effort.

Challenge #1:

We have had two Greek Staff recently leave staff because of funding issues. After many years of struggling to raise a full budget, they both made the difficult decision to pursue another job even though both of them are still very much still connected to our mission. They were in charge of running the ministries at UCSD and USD. There are student leadership teams on both campuses, but they need help continuing to grow the ministry. Please pray for God to encourage these students with vision and perseverance as they continue to press the mission forward.

Challenge #2:

San Diego State is currently under-resourced in staff and funding for the size of ministry it is. The good news is that God is doing a lot at San Diego State in the Greek System, but the difficult situation is that both of the Greek Staff (including Beau) are only able to be on campus with limited hours due to their need to spend time off campus. Please pray that the student leaders (many of them are new Christians) really step up more in their leadership and ownership of the mission during this time.

Challenge #3:

The last challenge is that all of this is happening while I have cut my hours in half because of the blessing of becoming a mom. With my limited hours, I need your prayers that God will help me use my hours each week in the most faithful and strategic ways.

We wanted to share the challenges because we know that God is still very much going to grow Greek Ministry in San Diego but the ministry is vulnerable and needs people like you covering it in prayer.

If you sense anything from God as you pray through these challenges, please don’t hesitate to pass a long any words, scriptures, or images to us. Thanks!
