Here is a write up from Casey Groff who is a first year Greek Staff at SDSU. Both Kristina and I were gone the last two weeks so we missed two Greek IVs. These are the kind of reports you love to get when out of town!
Last night I am walking to ZBT (frat house) on frat row at SDSU with Stacie, who was leading, and we heard fire alarms going off in every house on frat row! A water pipe burst in the frat house next to ZBT and it was filling with water, guys running around, firemen and chaos. Stacie and I had just met to talk and pray about her leading on “the Vine and the Branches” in John 15:1-17 so as we walked up to the chaos we began to pray hard! The alarm and water were turned off right as we prepared to start Greek IV and the room was filled with ALL GUYS, Stacie and me. By the time all of the students had showed up out of 18 students gathered in the common room of ZBT, 14 were guys!
Stacie led the students through the questions and passage with authority and conviction of the Holy Spirit! After the study I got to talking with a guy named Jim from Sig Ep who shared with me that he had ‘made a real decision for faith’ in his room, alone, in his frat house the week before. We talked about what this decision entailed and as he talked I grew more and more excited. Jim and I joined Zach, a Sig Ep Greek IV leader, to pray outside where Ryan’s whole countenance changed. He stepped out into the fullness of the decision he had made scared and alone in his room the week before, right in front of ZBT with us rejoicing by his side. He was shocked and said he ‘felt’ the Holy Spirit fill him and that he literally felt like different person. He did not feel scared or anxious like he had for the past week but he felt peaceful and excited that the angels were rejoicing with him and us!
As they rode away from me through water rushing down the streets from the broken water main on their skateboards towards Sig Ep I thanked God for causing frat guys to hunger for him. I went back into ZBT to grab my stuff and saw Marshall (a Kappa Sig who also accepted Christ alone after having a revelation of heaven and hell in his room in Sig city this Fall) sitting on a couch next to a ZBT who in the past few weeks has gone from a self-proclaimed atheist to agnostic. I heard Marshall sharing his testimony of how he was saved as I walked out of the frat house common room. I drove home and prayed with Greek IV leaders (on speaker phone) and we were humbled, awed, overwhelmed and encouraged as we recognized God answering our prayers to turn Greek guy’s hearts toward Him!
