God & Sex?!?

Many college students ask us: How far is too far? Why NOT have sex before marriage? Why are Christians against pornography and masturbation? Why are Christians so prude about sex? What does God think about people who lost their virginity? What does God say about those who have been raped? What if you’re someone who is dating someone who isn’t Christian, but you are?
Many students want to know…
WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT SEX?

On Wednesday, October 26th, Greek InterVarsity launched one of their main outreach events, Sexy Pizookie. We invited the entire Greek Community to come to Pi Beta Phi, one of the sororities at SDSU with a commanding social presence, to ask questions anonymously to a panel of Christians to gain their perspective on what God thinks about sex and dating.

Tori, a Pi Phi and leader of Greek Intervarsity emceed the night and had a lot to say about this event, “Sexy Pizookie was a great opportunity for students to hear about God’s view on sex and dating and it gave people hope for godly living in college. About 100 students were there and heard the gospel. It was my favorite Greek InterVarsity event so far.”

This event allowed the amazing panel to share the benefits of why God wants us to wait to have sex until marriage and this truth was received with excitement! By the end of the night 10+ students expressed interest in wanting to check out Greek InterVarsity and our weekly bible study. We are blessed to be on-campus presenting God’s view on these topics and issues so students can hear God’s truth amongst all of the other voices and opinions they hear on such topics in college.

Soul Food Video Slide Show

Beau & Kristina Preaching at Soul Food

Beau Preaching

Watch Beau do the call to faith and ask students come into relationship with Jesus. About 3min into this video clip you see students stand for their decision and some sobbing with tears of joy. The message was on the prodigal sons and Beau is calling them home into relationship with their father in heaven. The work of Christ on the cross and the gospel had already been shared at this point. This is purely exhortation and invitation. (If you want to the whole talk, please email us).

Kristina Preaching

Watch a snapshot of Kristina teaching on the prodigal sons and bringing the students into the fathers heart and how God pursues us just like this father in the story. Our view of a father is far different than the one that Jesus tells us about in Luke 15. She is funny and very captivating! (If you want the whole talk, please email us).

How Do You Reach the WORLD?

Can college ministry have a global impact? Absolutely, it can! Last year, we saw five international students come to faith in Jesus, and the majority of them were from countries that are closed to or directly opposed to the bible. This year, we are praying and seeking for more!

We’ve learned that to reach international students, we need to create space for them to belong in a community, build trust, and then they’ll start asking questions about faith. That’s why last week, our Staff Volunteer, Mitsu, organized an International Student Hangout to allow friendships to form and start an open discussion about faith. Mitsu shared his testimony about how God rescued him, and encouraged the students that God wants to do the same for them! More than forty international students showed up, and more than 20 students signed up for bible study! The harvest is plentiful in the international student community! Praise God!

More than 1,700 international students from over 100 countries study at SDSU every year with 3 of the top 5 countries from India, China and Iran. Many of these students come from countries that are closed and directly opposed to the bible!

Please pray for the international student bible study that happens every Thursday at 4:30! Please also pray for Mitsu as he leads these students back to God.

500 Miles Away…Atheist Stands for Prayer

Check out the testimony below of a staff from UC Davis who said our first meeting last week helped bring a UC Davis student’s brother to Christ.

(this is fromDavid Nguyen Saveur, InterVarsity staff at UC Davis): Shout out to SDSU! Your large group tonight served a couple of our UC Davis students who were home for the summer. The two girls brought their brothers and the one who was an adamant atheist stood up to receive prayer for God to do something about the sin in his life. Are you kidding me right now?! That’s amazing! Thank you for the work you’re doing 500 miles away! Really makes InterVarsity feel like one big family =)
