He [God] will always love you…no matter how far you drift away from Him. - Josh Shriver

Ah, I see. That's why, according to the Bible, he will torture people who do not have the correct belief for eternity. It's quite clear, from reading that vile document, that if the "God" it describes really existed, it would be the epitome of evil.

Love God? You're in an abusive relationship.

As a child we associate our faith with feelings of belonging, of peace, and of (for want of a better word) righteousness. As we wander into the world and our life experiences open up, we encounter these sensations in other facets of our lives. Looking back then at faith, it seems a little, well... silly. The reasons we felt religion was right for us had little to do with religion at all, it was an emotional response based on morality and community.

Then we realize that morality and community can exist, or are perhaps even more viable, independent of restrictive dogma. Experience makes faith less important, education makes religion more illogical, and the two combined are the final nail in the coffin of belief.

The world would be better without religion, still far from perfect, but better. We need to work at making heaven a reality on earth, rather than sacrificing our happiness and reason on earth in the hope of a reward after we're dead.

Dear IV, as a believer with a granddaughter starting SDSU this fall, I hope that you will clean up your website a little. You have misspellings (characterize, impenetrable, startup, culture), incorrect sentences (Kristina had God speak to here, and To this day that can believe the first....) and poorly written sentences (this 'sting' started the year previous out the death...). Please have someone who is proficient in English proofread before you post. May the Lord bless your ministry!
